Hard clear coat

Nikon HCC is Nikon’s base hydrophobic anti-reflective coating providing excellent scratch resistance. Just like all Nikon AR coated lenses, Nikon provides superior UV protection. UV light has been proven to have detrimental effects on the eyes, and exposure over time can lead to cataracts and weakening of the cornea. The superior performance of nikon lens is aided by Nikon’s UV cut 400 processes, which blocks harmful UV light.
